Boldly carved, the recumbent ox has its ears pricked and head lowered before its front legs, which are tucked neatly beneath its body. Its ribs and spine are boldly rendered, its tail tucked to its side. Two asymmetrical himotoshi to the underside.

Condition: Very good condition with minor wear.
Provenance: From an Italian private collection, acquired from Kubera Art, 17 April 2006. The base with the remnants of an old collector’s label.
