Condition: Great impression, and vivid colors. Very minor material loss on the lower right corner with some ink stains along the right margin.
Shiro Kasamatsu (1898-1991) was a renowned Japanese print artist known for his contributions to the shin-hanga movement. He began his artistic training at the age of 13 under Kaburaki Kiyokata (1878-1973), studying painting and printmaking. In 1919, he caught the attention of publisher Watanabe Shozaburo (1885-1962) who commissioned him to design woodblock prints. In the 1950s, Kasamatsu changed his publishing partner to Unsōdō in Kyoto, creating over 100 prints for them, mostly in shin-hanga style featuring traditional subjects. This partnership provided him with a stable income and enabled him to explore other artistic endeavors.

Your bid limit will be the maximum amount you can bid during the auction. Your bid limit is for the hammer price and is not affected by the buyer’s premium and VAT. For example, if you have a bid limit of €1,000 and place two winning bids for €300 and €200, then you will only be able to bid €500 for the rest of the auction. If you try to place a bid that is higher than €500, you will not be able to do so.
