China, 18th - 19th century. The rock with many conglomerate layers of various colors dominated by red, cream, gray, and black, the distinct striations and resulting stark contrasts give the stone an attractive and somewhat mystic appearance. Consistent naturally grown patina overall.
Provenance: From a private collection in Massachusetts, USA, mostly formed during the 1990s.
Condition: Good condition with some wear, signs of weathering and erosion, natural fissures and inclusions, possibly small losses which have smoothened over time.
Weight: 6,522 g (excl. stand)
Dimensions: Height 36 cm (excl. stand) and 39 cm (incl. stand)
With a fitted wood stand dating to the later 20th century. (2)
