The flattened, pear-shaped body cast on each side with a large taotie mask with silver and gold-inlaid details, flanked by flanges, between bands of archaistic birds centered by animal masks at the neck and divided by flanges at the foot, all reserved against a leiwen ground. The arched, rope-twist handle attached to projecting bars with animal mask terminals.
Provenance: From an old French private estate.
Condition: Some old wear, few nicks, small dents, light surface scratches, and casting flaws. The original cover lost.
