A YUMU ROUND-CORNER CABINET, YUANJIAOGUI, 18TH-19TH CENTURY
Lot 107 - HS1224
China. The top frame with a rounded edge supported on elegantly splayed legs of a rounded square section, enclosing matched single panel doors which open to reveal the shelved interior housing two drawers, and a removable plank housing hidden storage, all above a plain apron and spandrels. The cabinet and drawers fitted with metal hinges and handles suspending loose tabs.
Provenance: From the private collection of a Lady, United Kingdom.
Condition: Good condition with wear and natural imperfections. Light nicks, few scratches, minor warping, and age cracks with associated fills. A corner-section of the apron with repairs.
Dimensions: Size 120 x 68 x 42 cm
The round-corner tapered cabinet, or yuanjiaogui, is amongst the most elegant designs in all of classical Chinese furniture. The tapering shape in its design lends a sense of stability and balance to the form while retaining a graceful and pleasing profile. The design was widely used in cabinet making throughout the Ming and Qing dynasties.

After the auction, Zacke will not answer questions from bidders unless the purchase price has been paid in full. Of course, this does not apply to questions concerning shipping, insurance, customs, etc.
- A sale cancellation of any kind after the fall of the hammer is not possible. The only exception to this fundamental rule is our guarantee of authenticity [the Guarantee].
- A Guarantee Claim, however, can only be raised after the purchase price has been paid in full by the buyer and within 45 days after the auction day.
