This season, Galerie Zacke is honored to present Fine Japanese Art, an incredible auction that journeys through the breadth of Japanese culture and history. The sale features 650 remarkable pieces, from important paintings and woodblock prints to rare Buddhist artifacts, as well as ever-popular samurai art, ceramics, metalwork, and more.
Whether you are a seasoned collector or a passionate enthusiast exploring Japanese art for the first time, this auction offers something special for everyone.
The first 368 lots are thoughtfully curated in our vibrant print catalog, and key highlights include a rare votive plaque by the legendary Katsushika Hokusai (lot 268), an iron jizai okimono of a snake by Tanaka Tadayoshi, signed Muneyoshi (lot 81), a superb suit of armor adorned with imperial crests by the master armor-maker Myochin Munekata (lot 142), and of course our cover star, the important Heian figure of a Heavenly General (lot 149), which has a C14 Test which confirms the dating.
Lots 369-650, are featured in our online catalog, with many beautiful pieces in the categories okimono, bokuto, sagemono, inro, netsuke and sword fittings. Notable highlights are a selection of bokuto (doctor’s swords, lots 375-382) and a very fine selection of kozuka from an Australian private collection mostly featuring works from the noted Hamano and Goto schools (lots 562-597).
